Community Guidelines

Draft of 11 October 2026. Effective date to be set when approved.

Draft for review — not yet in effect. This page is a working draft. It has not yet been approved by the owners of Praying Wall or reviewed by a lawyer, and nobody is being asked to accept it. Items marked “to be added before publication” are still open.

The short version. People come here carrying things they are afraid to say out loud. Pray for them. Encourage them. Never ask them for anything, never try to reach them somewhere else, and never make them less safe.

This page is currently published in English only. If you need it explained in another language, write to us and we will help. If a translation is ever published and differs from the English text, the English text is the one that applies, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

These guidelines apply to everything on Praying Wall: prayer requests, comments, testimonies, Prayer Circles, display names and reports. They are part of our Terms of Service. They apply to everyone equally — guests, members, prayer warriors and staff.

1. What belongs here

  • Prayer requests, in your own words, about your own life or someone you care for.
  • Prayers and encouragement in reply. A sentence is enough.
  • Testimonies of answered prayer.
  • Kindness towards people whose beliefs, church or language differ from yours. Praying Wall is Christ-centred, and all prayer requests are welcome here.

2. What does not belong here

These are the guidelines our team works from. If we hide or remove something you wrote, the notice you receive names one of them.

GuidelineWhat it means
Asking for money or giftsNo requests for money, donations, gift cards, payment-app names or fundraising links, however real the need. Ask for prayer about the need instead.
A linkNo web links in requests, comments or circle posts.
Contact detailsNo phone numbers, email addresses, social-media names or home addresses — yours or anyone else's.
Moving the conversation off Praying WallDo not ask anyone to message, call or meet you somewhere else.
Words that could put someone at riskNo sexual or romantic approaches, no asking for secrecy, no asking for someone's age or photos, and nothing that builds private closeness with a young or vulnerable person.
Asking who or where someone isDo not ask for, or try to work out, a person's full name, location, school, workplace or church. Many people here are anonymous for good reason.
A threatNo threats of any kind, against anyone, and no wishing harm on a person.
Offensive languageNo slurs, obscenity, sexual content or language meant to demean a person or a group — including because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, disability, age or religion.
Could cause harmNothing that encourages or describes how to carry out self-harm, suicide, disordered eating or violence; no advice to stop medicine or treatment or to stay away from doctors, counsellors or the police; no claims that prayer replaces medical care.
Looks like a scamNo invented stories, impersonation, prizes, investments or promises of healing or blessing in return for anything.
Unkind or abusiveNo mocking, shaming or judging a person for what they have asked prayer for.
HarassmentDo not follow a person from post to post, keep contacting someone who has stepped away from you, or pressure anyone about their faith.
SpamNo repeated posts, advertising or promotion of a business, channel, product or ministry, and no posts made by bots or scripts.
Not a prayer or encouragementDebates, sermons, politics, campaigning and arguments about doctrine belong somewhere else.
Reported by other membersA post that several people report may be hidden until a member of our team has read it.
Someone may be in dangerA post suggesting that its writer or someone else may be harmed is never shown publicly. It goes to our team so a person can respond (see section 4).
Against our Community GuidelinesAnything else on this page, including section 3.

3. Never allowed, and what we do about it

The following lead to removal and to a ban, and may be reported to the authorities:

  • Anything that sexualises or endangers a child. We report apparent child sexual exploitation, including attempts to entice a person under 18, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
  • Intimate or sexual images of anyone, real or computer-generated, and threats to share them. See the Terms of Service, section 9, for how to have one removed within 48 hours.
  • Trafficking, or offering or seeking sexual services.
  • Praise for, or encouragement of, terrorism or violence, and credible threats against any person, group or place of worship.
  • Sharing another person's private information — a name with an address, a health condition, an immigration status, a photo — without their permission, or exposing anyone who is shown anonymously.
  • Pretending to be someone else, including a member of our team, a prayer warrior, a pastor or a church.
  • Coming back after a ban, or using more than one account to get around a decision.
  • Posting other people's work as your own, or anything else that breaks the law.

4. If someone may be in danger

If a request suggests that someone may harm themselves or be harmed, our team gives it priority and shows the person where to find immediate help. If you see something like this, please report it as well as praying. Praying Wall is not an emergency service and cannot send help. If you are the one in danger, do not wait for us. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free and at any hour; for Spanish, press 2 or text AYUDA to 988. Outside the United States, findahelpline.com lists verified helplines in over 175 countries. If anyone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

5. Asking prayer for someone else

  • You may ask prayer for another person. Use a first name or “my friend”; leave out anything that would let a stranger work out who they are.
  • Think about whether they would want it shared. A diagnosis, an addiction, a marriage or a child's trouble is theirs to tell.
  • Never name a person you are accusing of something. Ask for prayer about the situation, not judgment on the person.

6. Keeping confidences

  • What is shared in a Prayer Circle stays in that circle.
  • Do not copy, screenshot or repost another person's request or comment anywhere else.
  • Prayer warriors promise to keep every request confidential, including the private ones only our prayer team sees.

7. Young people, and people who must stay hidden

  • You must be at least 16 to take part. Members aged 16 and 17 always appear anonymously in public, and only prayer warriors and staff may comment on their requests.
  • Prayer Circles are for members aged 18 or over.
  • Never ask anyone their age, and never try to contact a young person privately.
  • Some members live in places where being known as a Christian is dangerous, and their posts are always anonymous. Never try to identify anyone, and never ask where they are.

8. Display names

Choose a first name or nickname. No full names of other people, no titles that suggest you speak for Praying Wall or a church, no contact details, and nothing offensive.

9. Reporting, and stepping away

Every public request and comment has a Report button, and so does every circle post. When you report, you choose the reason that fits best — for example that the post is inappropriate or offensive, is not a prayer request, shows someone's personal information, is spam or advertising, looks like a scam, or could cause harm — and you may add a note. A report goes to our team, not to the person you reported, and they are not told who made it.

You can also step away from another member so that you no longer see their prayers in Prayer Circles, or rest from their posts for 30 days; they are not told. Please report in good faith: using reports to harass someone, or reporting things you know are within these guidelines, is itself against them.

You do not need an account to report something you believe is illegal: write to PrayingWall2911@gmail.com.

10. How our team decides, and what happens next

  • Every prayer request is read by a person before it can appear on the public wall. Software also screens what is posted and may hold a post for a person to read, or refuse it.
  • We look at what was written, the context, and whether anyone may be at risk. We apply these guidelines to everyone in the same way.
  • Depending on how serious the problem is and whether it has happened before, we may hold a post for review, hide it, remove it, limit what an account can do, suspend the account, or ban the person. The things in section 3 lead straight to a ban.
  • Where someone may be in danger, or the law requires it, we may contact emergency services or the authorities.
  • We tell you what we did and which guideline it was under, unless the law or someone's safety prevents us.

11. Asking for a second look

If we hide or remove something you wrote, or suspend your account, you may ask once, within 30 days, for a second look, and you may add a note. You can do this from your account page even while suspended. A different member of our team from the one who made the decision reviews it. If the decision is reversed, your words are put back as they were, or the suspension is lifted.
